East Central South Dakota
Hello To All. I am new to the smoking community. I am from east central south dakota. I have cooked low and slow doing ribs for the day over charcoal with some success and now am going to get into smoking. I did alot of research before deciding which smoker was best for me. I had narrowed it down to a cabinet style electric smoker......Now for the which one..... This is where you guys came in. I read alot of different things and was at first leaning towards the bradly but I have decided on the Masterbuilt 40 Model 200070311. I hope this unit serves me well. I sure read alot of various things about these and have learned alot along the way. I had come to find out there is three different model numbers of the 40" unit and after a discussion with masterbuilt decided on this one. They seemed to "Have Time" for my questions which is sure a good quality in a company. Well I cant wait to do some experimenting soon. You guys have some awesome looking recipes that you have come up with WOW! Well, I should be recieving this unit early next week. Any pointers on initial startup to save me any confusion would be great, Thanks For All The Good Info~!

The only advice I can give on your electric unit is make sure you use a heavy extension cord if you use 1 at least a #12. Also make sure you season it before you smoke any meat, your directions will more then likely tell you how to do this.

Hello and Welcome to SMF - glad to have you here and good luck with the new smoker
