Hey guys.  A little about myself:

I'm 32 years old, recently married, and I work in law enforcement (6 yrs now).  I love cars and trucks, but gravitate towards Fords.  I've been working on building a motorcycle for the past two years, and its almost done.  I love cooking on the grill, especially for my wife.  I have perfected my filet mingon for her!

A little about my experience smoking:

About 10 years ago, a friend's brother got a smoker as a wedding gift, and left it in his parents' garage.  He was coming back for a weekend, and asked if we could set up the smoker and get something going on it.  I smoked a couple of pork butts on it over the next couple of months, without any knowledge or skill, and they came out ridiculously good!  I was hooked.

I haven't smoked anything since then, but I've been wanting a smoker for the past 10 years.  I mentioned I am recently married.  My wife bought us a house, so now I have a place to keep a smoker.  This past weekend, my wife and I won a smoker from a raffle at a charity event we attended.  Its not an expensive or really nice smoker, but for $10 in raffle tickets, its not bad!

I plan on a couple of upgrades for it: a grate for the charcoal bowl to keep the ash from choking the charcoal, and a themometer (the one on it reads (Warm, ideal, hot).

So the first thing I am going to attempt (after first seasoning the smoker) is a batch of burgers.  After that, a prime rib.  Sadly, my wife doesn't eat pork, so I will be limited there.  But I hope to have a lot of fun with this!
