I have a WSM 18.5" and I was wondering when you use the minion method - How do you add your first pieces of wood?  When do you typically add more?

Thanks to all for your much appreciated help

Scatter some Chunks throughout the pile of Charcoal. Then the WSM can be lit, Set and Forget...JJ

I also run an 18.5" WSM and use the Minion method.  The theory behind the Minion is that the unlit coals will be lit by the hot coals and burn from the center outwards; therefore I typically add my wood chunks in a line from the center outwards with the thought being that they will continue to light as time passes and keep a constant level of smoke throughout the entire cook.

Thanks a bunch
