Hey Everyone,

long time charcoal and gas griller here....but new to smoking.  Any suggestions for an informative book for beginners?  Nost just a book with advanced recipes but one that provides info on techniques regarding how much and what type of wood, recommeded temps etc....Thanks!!!!

There are a coupla decent ones out...Myron Mixons and Steve Reichlin (sp) and I believe Paul Kirk has one as well. I usually go to the Library and get some, then copy what I want out of them. They sometimes have some old, obscure ones from years back on smoking to preserve things.

I recently got one by Paul Kirk called Paul Kirk's Championship Barbecue. It has 575 recipes, but more than that, It has a lot of how to, not only for getting into competition cooking, but basic how to also. UPC 9781558322424 ISBN 9781558322424, I think. :)

Good luck,
Jason

Thanks, Fellas!!  Really appreciate the help!!!!!!!!

I'm with Al.  I have read every book I could get my hands on.  SMF is by far the most helpful and comprehensive resource I have found.  Thanks to all the SMF members who have guided and inspired me!

Good luck and good smoking!
