Here is the cooker we've used for more years than I care to recall. I grew up with one of these in the kitchen and have owned and used one ever since as the cooler weather permits. When I got married my wife took right to it. She is an expert. Today she roasted an excellent chicken in the oven. But now that I am on this site I expect to expand our cooking versatility even more. One of my grand mothers had one as I grew up.I remember some mighty fine food coming out of it.And big old cat head biscuits were out of this world good.

Nice stove... If I recall, they cook food that tastes better than electric or gas...

Another fine beef roast today. We make the wood together, I haul it inside and she does the rest. IMG_3149.JPG

Now there's a term I haven't heard in years. Grandma used to make the best "cat heads 'n paste."

And if you remember, when grandma made cathead biscuits, she didn't know what a measuring cup was.
they came out the same every time.

Beautiful stove. My gramma used to put out some mighty fine food on one of these. And there was always lots of hot water fir Saturday night baths in the kitchen.

I can't say I remember my Grandmother every using one of those stoves, but I remember her telling us stories of using a pot on a hook connected to the fireplace that swung in and out over the fire. I used to love hearing stories of her upbringing in Ireland. 7 kids, two bedrooms, and a thatched roof.
