For the individuals living in North Florida, where have you found is the best place to get your wood? I usually go to Acadamy Sports but they are kind of hor or miss. Sometimes they'll have a full stock and then they'll go a month with nothing but $30 bags of apple. Luckily when I go back home to South GA I can load up on hichory and red oak but in the mean time I'm stuck with no wood to fuel my addiction. Any advice/recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Just realized I posted in the wrong spot. Any way to delete this?

Do you have a truck or access to one?  If so, I usually keep an eye out for tree companies that are contracted by the power companies to trim limbs from around power lines.  In Jax you should be able to at least find oak there pretty easy.  My experience has been that the crews working are more than willing to cut stuff pretty much to the length that you want.   I will also tip them according to the amount/variety  of wood I get.  Crews are out working now, prior to hurricane season.  You might want to call some of the local tree companies just to see where and if they are working power lines. Hope this helps.   ed

Great info gentlemen, I'll give it a shot. Even with tipping it'll be better than the $30 I spend just about everytime I fire it up. Also, thanks for moving the thread for me.

I buy pecan when available at Acadamy. I actualy have family that work with some of the pecan farms in S GA and I can't believe I've never thought of asking them about it. I was talking to my dad the other day and he's trying to work a deal with some of the peach farmers in the area to get a few loads. Apparently these guys burns tons of the peach trees every year while I'm paying $30 a bag for it down here. Agan, thanks for the input fellas. Have a happy 4th.
