I have only used the small chips/shaving like wood chips in my Masterbuilt vertical propane smoker. I soak them in water and then place them directly in my wood chip pan above the burner. I welded small steel plates to close the bottom of my wood chip pan off so no flames can get thru and burn them up quickly. I have never experimented with the bigger wood chunks before. How do people like them? Do you wrap with foil and poke some holes in the foil? Soak in water? Wanting to try some new things so any help is appreciated, thanks.

I use cookies..... cut from alder trees... you could cut from apple, pear, peach..... One piece of wood will not catch fire... It takes 2 pieces of wood to build a fire..... If your location was in your profile, that would help...
