Smokey Greetings from Seattle,

I am new to this forum and new to smoking meat, for the most part. I received a Brinkmann electric smoker for Christmas, and have been having fun with it since. My friends and family have probably been enjoying it as much as I have, which is great!

One frustration I'm having, though, is that I have to refill the wood chips every hour or so, because
they burn out. I do soak the wood chips, and my smoker doesn't have temp control (rookie machine, I know, but hey....I'm a rookie smoker), but still, I can't exactly "set it and forget it" and I'm sure I'm losing heat and flavor by opening it several times during the cooking process.

The only ones I see online are like 8" by 5", does anyone know of a bigger one I can buy, if so where?
Also, does he lid with the holes on top of the wood chip box serve any purpose? I can't wrap my head around it....the smoke goes up, regardless, right? Who cares if it goes through tiny holes or not?

Thanks for any help you can provide. Looking forward to communicating with y'all in the future on all topics smoking!
