hehehehe.... did an all night pork shoulder and then did this chicken for tonight's dinner.

This was a pretty big roaster. Around 7 pounds. Smoker temp 350 for just over 2 hours. Skin didn't crisp as much as I'd have liked, but it wasn't rubbery either. I just like it to crunch :)

So if I did a pork shoulder all night why did we have a chicken for dinner?

'Cause tomorrow is s'posed to be rainy and windy and generally crappy. So we'll have the pulled pork tomorrow :)

The bird looks great. Just a word of caution:  A couple years ago I got serious about smoking and was smoking something 2-3 times a week when the weather got nice in May. By the end of June my family threatened my life if I smoked one more thing the rest of the summer. The Smoked meat flavors are great but too much, too often gets old quick for many people...JJ

Any excuse is a good one as long as you get to smoke. LOL

Pretty bird..... AND welcome to my addiction!

Your commitment to smoking is admirable!

I appreciate the thought, JJ. It's rare for me to smoke a meal twice in one week let alone 2 days in a row. And I've gone a week or more without smokin' anything. I must be balancing this OK though. My son told me he wants to skip the going out to dinner part of his birthday.

    Hehehe

I got hit with that too... "You're not going to smoke that are you?" And, "Can we try that without the smoke?" I've been doing some charcoal only slow cooking and receiving some good reactions. I get to play with the slow cooker and they quit complaining. :)

I have the smoker, a weber performer charcoal grill, and a gas grill. Right now, the weber needs a new cooking grate, but otherwise I use them all. My wife loves having a wife! :) I'm retired and she has about 2 and a half years to go.She wants to add on to our patio to give me a "kitchen". I cook outside in the winter unless it's really stormin'.

However.... all that being said, I don't consider myself a one trick pony either. I'm equally at home in the kitchen (inside) and consider myself a pretty decent cook. I like taking ordinary things and putting a twist on them to make them into something less ordinary. :)

The smoker is a great tool and I really enjoy it, but it's not the only tool in the box.

I totally understand your Wife's enjoyment of your cooking. My Wife is in heaven, there are now " 3 " Pro Chef's in our house, me and my 2 oldest Daughters. Only problem is THEIR friends frequently seem to show up at Supper Time!...[IMG]...JJ
