So I have been offered this old usps mail box to build my first smoker out of not sure how it would work out haven't gone and looked at it just yet but I know it's not going anywhere just wondering if anyone has used one before?!?!?

As long as it's not galvanized metal it would be fine to use. Now as far a configuration, fuel and such that's going to have to be an experiment. It probably would do great as an electric, or even a propane smoker. It would be super easy to turn it into a cold smoker.I like it and say go for it! Post a ton of photos so we can see what you come up with.

Should work, nice project.

A next door neighbor got a hold of one of those large aluminum boxes you see at some intersections for the (I think) traffic signal control and / or lighting in the intersection and made a bang up smoker out of it. He was able to do whole pigs :-)
