Hello everyone,
I just found this website and just have to say wow. I've been smoking for about a year now and cant believe I've never been here before.
I'm about to start building a UDS with a drum i got from a friend at work. He had said it was a rain barrel. But as i got it home and started to scrap off some of the rust and dirt i noticed some markings and checked them out and it turns out the barrel was used for lacquer storage for Sherwin Williams. Naturally I'm a little nervous about using this barrel and wont be continuing on unless i can find some more information out and that's where you come in.
other people have been suggesting that i just do the standard build process (burn it, grind it, build it, paint it, cook it) but do some mock cooks before i call it finished.
would you here recommend doing that? or should i just look for a better "cleaner" barrel somewhere else?
Thank you for your time.
Vic
