WhooHooo Grizzly stuffer came today!!! My bday too!

    Watch out its on now!! cant wait to try it out, i have never held a stuffer but it seems very well built, no wonder they are not cheap a lot of steel. it has a lot of grease on the piston and gasket that sure doesn't smell like food grade? anyway i am gonna wash it up real good but am wondering if your supposed to lube the piston and washer? i thought you only have to grease the threads?
    Lol you know your getting old when your excited about a sausage stuffer haha

    Pandemonium,

    Congrats on your new toy!!!

    My 5# LEM had some funky grease all over it. I had to soak it in DAWN dish soap to get it off.

    Lube up the seal before using with some veggie oil and wipe some oil on the inside. I spray the inside of the tank with some PAM. The grease from your meat will lube it for the rest of your stuffing experience.

    After using it, I take the tank and piston off to clean it all in the sink. I remove the seal and air valve, and clean the groove in the piston. When I'm done, I slip the seal on the piston reassemble the air valve and store it in a baggie.

    A little silicone grease or petroleum jelly(Vaseline) on the threads and gears is a good thing. A little goes a long way.

    You'll know when you get to the end of the tank. The piston on my 5# stuffer actually goes past the exit for the stuffer tube, and I can hear air go past the piston. This is how I know I'm at the end of the stroke.

    Overcranking can cause the gears to fail.....just Go Easy!!!

    i haven't been at it long either, have done two batches of stuffed but i am sure i am gonna like making it a lot easier and create all kinds of different sausage like Wutang and others.

    Congrats on your new purchase. Once you start cranking out them sausages, there will be no turning back.

    You will love having a stuffer compared to using your grinder to stuff sausages. Alot better consistency with a stuffer compared to a grinder.

    Well Happy Birthday to you. Now go hide the women and children too. For once you start stuffing things nothing is save. I know I just got a grinder and then after that I got a stuffer too. Now my dog (Tri-Pod) only has three legs ......The wife was slow that night. And always remember that furniture doesn't grind well with the smaller plate.

    Every piece of shop equipment I've ever gotten from Grizzly was coated in cosmolene. Usually have to scrape off the thick stuff and then use a solvent on the remainder. Congrats on the purchase!

    I got mine from them just before Christmas and I agree, they are built tough and a great price for a quality stuffer...[​IMG]

    And NO they are not coated in cosmolene...[​IMG]

    well being from China,whatever that grease is it cant be good for you. lead juice maybe hehe?
