I finally have gotten back into smoking meats again. I had a Brinkman back in the day, but the weather and lots of use took it's toll on it. I've wanted to get started again for a long time, but knew I needed a bigger and better quality unit. My dad was a long time smoker and since all the kids were out of the house, he passed his old smoker onto me....thanks pops!
The label says it is a South West Smoker. All I know, is that it suits my needs much better than what I had previously. My dad used it for 10-12 years and I'm hoping to do the same. I've done several pork loins and whole chickens and been happy with the results.

We live south of KC, MO - 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats. I enjoy anything outdoors and anything involving my kids. I've already found so much good information on here, I hope one day to be able to give back.

Welcome to the SMF.

That is a good way to startoff with qview of your smoker. What a nice looking rig. You will soon be turning out some awesome Q with a unit like that.

Looking forward to see some of your qview and the smoker in action.

PS New guy buys the beer.

Welcome MR. Clean!!

That is a New Braunfels Smoker Bandera style...but if your dad had it that long they probably didn't call themselves that back in those days. Could have been they weren't New Braunfels at that time.

Glad you're part of the SMF. Thanks for the introduction, and the pic of the smoker. It's all good my friend.
