Time to replace my older Taylor unit and looking at the Maverick line, but open to others.  Has to be dual probes, but I don't really need the remote readout unit.  Don't need or want bluetooth or iphone compatability, just a simple unit that shows temp for CC and IT

I have the maverick et-732 and it is great. You will find you like the remote. You can know what is going on in the Q from the bathroom or nightstand or the lawn tractor. I don't hardly ever use the alarms and such but there is that too.

You can get the 733 for 10 extra dollars and it also includes bear claws meat puller things. They only difference I saw on amazon was the hybrid probes and the claws. Both probes can either be using the the meat or CC.

Really depends on your priorities. I have the Maverick 732 and a thermapen. The 732 is a good ballpark indicator. It's not really that precise, accurate or fast, but it lets me know what's generally happening. I'm down to one probe as the pit probe died about a year after I bought it. I should replace it, but I'm a little irritated that I have to and have been reluctant to give them any more of my money. The thermapen is precise, accurate and fast, and it lets me know EXACTLY what's happening. I can tell the difference in the temps at the center of a pork butt vs an inch below the surface, for example.
As for the wireless aspect of the 732, I could easily live without it. I did use the alarm once on an overnight smoke years ago, but that was really just because I could. I have a fairly good idea of what's going to happen and when, so I'm gonna be at the smoker when I need to be anyway.
If I had it all to do over again, I'd probably get something from Thermoworks. The $59 Chef alarm to monitor the cooker and a Thermopop to check on the meat would work pretty nicely. They also make dual probe units in the $200 range. Yes, they're expensive and yes, you can get similar functionality for much less money. But at the end of the day, their products work well and keep right on working long after the cheaper ones start having problems. And by the time you've replaced the probes 4 or 5 times on the maverick you've ended up spending a similar amount of money on an inferior product.

I have the mav 733 and love it. It has a lot of functions I don't use, I just wanted a good dual probe thermo and it is great! I also have a thermopen to double check and it is within 2* of the mav reading. Highly recommend both.

Thanks all.  Just ordered the 733 with bear paws

I have had mine for 3 years and knock on wood but no probe problems yet. My original et 73 had probe problems and maverick sent me new ones for free twice. You might give them a call. I hear the new ones are sealed at the point where they always fail and they are backward compatible. That's what I heard anyway.
