Didn't know whether to put this here or in the thermometer forum but here goes. I just bought a Masterbuilt XL and am going to get the Maverick ET-732 and was just curious how you routed the wires into the chamber. Did you just drill a hole in your smoker or use and existing hole. Also did you "mount" the display unit or just lay it on the ground. Looking for any and all ideas. Thanks

I don't have your smoker. But there are several ways to get the wires in. The easiest is thru the exhaust vent. If the door doesn't shut too tight you can just shut the door on the wire. You can drill a hole & get a lamp repair kit at Home Depot. It will come with a short brass nipple & 2 nuts, just slide the nipple in the hole & put a nut on each side. I usually have a small table next to the smoker to put the therm on, or you can fashion a small table to fit on the handles on the side of the smoker (if yours has them).

Thanks for the info guys. I have read through the XL Mods posts (probably more times than I care to admit) and didn't see anything specifically on running thermometer wires which is why I posted this. If I missed a post in there I apologize. I have been searching for the past days in anticipation of my new smoker.

In several of the pictures in the mods post I saw thermo wires..but no words...
