Hi everyone. I live in Albemarle east of Charlotte.. well I guess technically north east.

New to the smoking game.

Been reading numerous posts over the last week. Lots of good info here

I grew up in Erwin (Denim Capitol of the World...left at traffic light). Have lived in Fayetteville and Charlotte. In Virginia now, but still a Tar Heel at heart. Every time I'm down that way, I buy plenty of Carlie C's IGA sausage links to bring back with me. YUM!!

I joined this group because I was born in Raleigh and spent my first 50 years there. Grew up in Oakwood about 4 blocks from the Governor's Mansion. Got my degree from UNC.

Following career goals, I moved to Clearwater/Tampa Bay area for a couple of years then to Sugar Land, TX for a couple then on to Temple in central Texas. My avatar slogan says it all.

Back in the early to mid '60s I worked in the insurance industry and traveled in all of the 100 counties of NC. My family moved to what is now Wake County (then Johnston) in the early 1730's then moved west. My dad was born in Nantahala in Swain County in 1894 and finished a year at Mars Hill in May of 1910. He moved to Raleigh in 1911.

Got relatives scattered all across the state, but I think I'm gonna stay in Texas where I can see to the horizon in every direction.

Great to hear from all you folks back in The Old North State.

OK, I just stumbled across this group by accident!  I saw a post that alelover made and followed his link over here.

I'm in Sanford, about 35 miles SW of Raleigh.  Right where #1, 15-501, and 421 all intersect!  Lee County is the geographical center of NC.

I wish  I could make it to the get together ya'll have planned, but I already have plans!  Maybe we can plan another for the Fall!??

Just checking in from South Charlotte!! I've been a member of SMF for about a year or so. Just realized there was a NC Group. I have met some of u online and will be meeting at least one of u in person tomorrow!! It's good to see so many from around the Charlotte area checking in. I would love to meet up with some of u guys and learn or share tips and tricks to make smoking easier and more fun for us all!!

I live in Charleston SC now, but I lived in Wilmington for 27 years.  I"m a big fan of the South Eastern NC vinegar based sauces and I make a damn fine one if I do say so myself.  Mind if I hang out here with you guys till someone creates a SC group?
