I am in Winston-Salem. Love it here and couldn't imagine living anywhere else unless I can get up into those mountains.

I love raleigh.....live in the county (not city limits) but close to everything I need to get...... all of nc is the best.. We have everything

I'm over here just north of Asheville and between Weaverville and Mars Hill.

I'm all for a friendly get together but my summers are limited.  I usually head up to Alaska during early June through mid September. and work a couple BBQ stands there.  It's not a huge money maker but it pays my transportation and a couple fishing charters.  There is usually enough left over to pay a mortgage payment or two once I get back, so it serves me well.

Would love to do a small cookoff, just to say I did one.  I've competed with my brothers on a national level at the Jack Daniels twice and the Kansas City Royal once, but never entered a competition on my own.  I was always pretty much the chief dish washer and taste tester.

I believe I can find us an overnight spot in downtown Weaverville if we were to throw together a competition.  The town park would be my first choice, but not a lot of foot traffic.  One of the main street churches might let us use their parking lot and fellowship halls, but we would need to be out by Sunday morning.  Worst case, right out here in Barnardsville.  We've got a great park and pavillion and every amenity except showers.

Competing for bragging rights sounds like some fun. And even more importantly a good excuse to meet some fellow SMF'ers.

We are kicking around the idea of a NC gathering at http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/113369/any-interest-in-a-nc-gathering

Elizabethtown, North Carolina here. I just joined and am just getting serious about smokiing. I would love to attend a NC gathering for a learning experience. I have a friend that lives in Concord.
