What's up Woodsmokers? ya'll must be still enjoying yesterdays HAM!!

I haven't been able to really do much on the site for the last week, I think Roll Call is taking over---which is good, but the site is SLOWWWWW--------!

I am just trying to get some attention! You all must have some wood you want to burn, if so, Lets talk woodburners!!!

I decided that I am going to try smoking with some of the mystery wood this weekend see how it comes out. I also got a new toy to start my fires with, a 500,000 BTU toy.

500,000 BTU's ought to do the trick, you'll be up to temp in 15 minutes!!!!

Not much going on here the weather has sucked but on a the bright side have sold some Backwoods this week and a restaurant wants a large unit and wants me to train their guy to do BBQ this is going to be fun!!

My wife and I took a road trip last wednesday from Omaha to KC to pick up the Oklahoma Joe Smoker that TeeOTee turned me on to. We had so much fun. It was a really nice day for a drive and we were both in the mood for it. My wife could only shake her head when I told her that I was so excited, it was like a pilgrimage to the holy land of Q. I can't wait to use this thing! Last night I cleaned everything up with a wire brush since it had not been used since last year. Removed all of the dust and grime that I could and sprayed it down with a vegi oil spray and reseasoned for a few hours. My intention is to fire it up this weekend with a couple butts perhaps, to get the feel for how the grill heats as this one is quite a bit larger than my last smoker. I am having lasik eye surgery on friday evening though and am not sure what I will feel up to as far as standing around outside next to a smoky smoker all day. We'll see. If she's smokin, I'll send pics!

ya the only problem is my aunt bought 2 cords of maple firewood doesnt not want to light. I stood there with the torch open full for over 20 min, the grate that comes with the langs was red hot and the wood still wouldnt go up. Had to throw in some of my apple which had gotten rained on the day before and it right up.

Smokinit---Sounds like a fun job at the restaurant, wish I could tag along.

2 Dogs----Hope your eye surgery works out so you can get us some pics!!! That was a great deal!!

Hey Neens--- was that maple split fairly small so you could start it---is it wet?

it was split like normal firewood. I was gonna split it again next time. it was wet but so was the apple it rained for 2 days stright both where sitting out next to each other but the apple is much smaller. im guessing it was the size

Steve,
New house needed some rooms painted so I lined up a few friends and will put on a 7lb butt and a 6 lb brisket section for payment due Saturday at 5pm. Plan on allowing 9 hrs for the brisket and 8 for the butt in the new Lang. Hope that works out. First time out with the Lang so my first will be a trial by fire er I mean smoke.

Cool Shooter, and Neens.....I am enclosing a pic of a fire starting in the 60, the wood should be beer can diameter or a lot less to get a good start, and honestly, I don't usually go much bigger than 3 inch unless its really hot:-)

I hate painting, but I love Bbq, so I would be there if ya were my neighbor Shooter!!!

I usually just split my firewood into smaller smoker wood as I use it, just a couple of whacks, and you good for an hour or two:-) You should see a major difference especially with that brush burner!!!
