Hi,

Sorry for such a noob question. I'm new to smoking and done a lot of research and finally bought my first electric smoker (MES 30 Gen 2), iGrill2, and AMNPS.

I just pre-seasoned the smoker today before smoking my first rack of ribs on Sunday.

So my question, how do you put out the smoke when your done smoking your meats.  So you let it keep going and let it die off on it's own, put it out with water, etc?

Reason this came up was because i filled the first row with pellets, since i only needed smoke for 45mins for the pre-seasoning.  Once the time was up, i used a knife to separate some fresh unburned pellets to use for next time.  But what do people do with the leftover area that is still burning?

For now, i left it in the empty smoker unplugged.  Please advise!!!

You certainly can do what you just did. Close all cents and it will snuff the fire out.

Or you can dispose of the burnt pellets in a fire proof container with a lid and do the same thing.

I just let mine burn out in the closed up smoker.
