What smoker would you get if you had about $500?

I've been saving up for a smoker and managed about $500 over some time.

I've read and researched and read some more trying to figure out what brand to get. I've even considered building a wood box smoker or fridge smoker.

The MES or Masterbuilt Electric Smoker 40 seems to be a popular choice. I was looking at the newer model with the window, $420ish.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Yep, Same smoker only $299. You can order it online if you belong to Sam's & the shipping is only $10.

Thanks Todd, that's a lot cheaper. I used to have a card but they closed their store by me (another one is maybe 15 min away) so I got a costco membership instead. I went online and it looks like I can renew my membership for only $35 so that is still a lot cheaper then anywhere else.

You've seemed to do your homework. Good luck! Since you ordered from Todd before, why not check into the ET-732 dual probe sensor. He could probably ship that with your amns and dust.

With the money you saved on the price of the unit the digital thermometer is free!

Thanks for the reminder, I just emailed him to add the Maverick. 

I put everything in the shopping carts and made a smoked summer sausage sandwich from my last smoke and after one beautiful bite of SS happiness, I checked out knowing I made the right decision. SS sandy's for life..

That's good to know....the only MES I have seen at Cabelas around here had the stainless sides and painted sides from Sams...That Smokin-it looks nice but I would still get the amnps for it.  I'm spoiled with how easy it makes long smokes.
