I have been using a GOSM (small from walmart) for the past few years. It have been good to me but it might be time to replace it. What is the current must have gas smoker? Is there something new that is way better than the GOSM? I have been happy w/ $120 purchase and would make it again if there is nothing that stands out head n shoulders above. I saw a picture of the smoke vault and liked it but mainly cuz it matches my safe....

You can't go wrong with the Smoke Vault. Sportsman's Warehouse has them here (the 24" model) for $259.00. Good luck on your choice.

If I were to buy a new propane smoker today it would be the Smoke Vault 24" but the GOSM's are great smokers as well

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I think you would like the Smoke Vault 24 too. Hang on to the GOSM for the smokes that don't require the Big Boy.

Wow. $259. to bad I do not have a sportsmans warehouse near me and they do not sell online.

It's too bad shipping costs are so high or I could help you out. By the time you paid the freight from here to there, it would be cost prohibitive.

Has anyone heard of the Orion smoker??? I have a pretty good source that said it cuts the cooking time in half (at least) and that they are very cheap....thoughts????

I agree with the Browning Smoke Vault. I have a GOSM myself and don't need to replace it, but I saw a Smoke Vault on display at Sportsmans Warehouse. I immediately thought that as soon as I need a new one, this would be it. It appeared to be made even better than the GOSM (thicker, sturdier steel). The door was even very stout. It's built to last, that's for sure.

By the way, you can buy them online! Here's one I found on a quick search: http://www.outdoorcooking.com/catalo...0/Smokers.html

Here is a YouTube video showing off the SmokeVault:

Bass Pro Shop has this on sale for $249.00 I think it is the 18" model

Smoke anything you want and bake too with the Browning Smoke Vault Smoker. Roomy enough to accommodate a dutch oven, this flexible propane cooker and smoker has plenty of power to smoke ribs, fish, turkey, and more, and bake pies and bread as well. Convenient "snap ignition" lights the cast iron burner as you turn the finesse style propane control knob. Durable burner produces up to 20,000 BTUs of usable heat for plenty of cooking power. Inside the smoke vault, you find three nickel-plated steel cooking racks with plenty of cooking placement options for different foods. The Smoke Vault also comes with a handy cooking rack designed specifically for jerky cooking. The cast iron wood chip plate allows wood to smolder and not burn up quickly for high quality smoking. The porcelain-coated grease pan helps keep grease off the burner and is easy to remove and clean. Metal water pan ensures moist cooking. The smoke vault lives up to its name with the overlapping edge on its stainless steel door and easy turn metal handle, which work together to lock heat in. The built-in thermometer is housed in a combination lock theme design in the door. This cooker also features a side heat vent for greater heat control and metal carrying handles on its side. Browning name and Buckmark[emoji]174[/emoji] image are displayed clearly on the smoke vault's door. Assembled dimensions: 44'' x 24'' x 21''. Smoke box: 29.5'' x 17.5'' x 15.6''. Shipping weight: 56 lbs.
