What are your fav rib rubs ?

    Just got a traeger smoker and was wondering what everyone's fav rubs are ? Feel free to pm if you want thanks
  2. I like the pig's flavor to shine through so usually it's just salt and pepper for me. I don't sauce them either. At our house the sauce is warmed up and on the table to apply as desired.

    I make my own, but Jeff's rub is excellent & can be tweaked to your own taste.

    I have my own recipe that I will use occasionally. Lately my folks are enjoying Jeff's rub. I tweaked it just a little to take out some heat and add a little sweet. Jeff's rub and sauce recipes are very user friendly. Also I use them as a base for a braise, glaze or anything that needs a little extra taste.

    This is my fav. The kids put it on Fries and Popcorn as well...JJ

    Cajun Rib Tickler

    1C Tubinado or Dried Brown Sugar*

    1/4C Paprika**

    2T Kosher Salt

    2T Garlic Powder

    2T Onion Powder

    2T Mustard Powder

    2T Chili Powder

    2tsp Black Pepper

    1-2tsp Cayenne

    2tsp Dry Oregano

    2tsp Dry Thyme

    2tsp Cry Celery Flakes

    1tsp Celery Seed

    Grind the Oregano, Thyme, Celery Flake and Seed. Mix all and store in air tight container, up to 3 months...

    Notes...* Leave out the Sugar for a Cajun Blackening Spice.  Spinkle a lot or a little, on whatever meat, dip in melted Butter or Olive oil and saute in a very hot pan until cooked to your desired IT.

                 ** If you wish you can use Smoked Paprika in the recipe. This will give a seasoning that will add some "Smokey flavor" to Grilled, Sauteed, Fried or Roasted meat, not just stuff you smoke.

    Mix and store in an air tight container...JJ

    Just corse ground black pepper and kosher salt for me.

    I like Jeffs rub. I bought the recipes years ago and somehow misplaced the hard copies last summer. They dropped off my email a long time ago. I sent Jeff a email asking if he would resend them and he did the next day without question. I tweak on Jeffs recipe just a bit with a single ingredient that I won't divulge here but sends it over the top. Nobody can put their finger on it but everyone knows it's there. We all have to have our secrets right? [​IMG]
