You sure that is the regular price and not the clearance price? :music-064:

Last time I checked WM prices they were holding steady at $2.96/lb for their choice packer trimmed.

I'll have to stop by on my way in to work tomorrow and see what they are selling for. Going to be doing a big one for Thanksgiving, so if the prices are coming down, that will be even better.

Yeah, beef prices have been coming down. My Wal Mart also has "select" packers for $2.46/lb. I picked up 2  "choice" packers at GSF Friday for $2.69/lb.

I was in Costco a few weeks ago and they had "Prime" briskets for $ 3.79/lb or $3.16 case price. I need to go back and see if their price has come down any.

It's much more motivating to smoke brisket when prices are low. Doesn't bruise the wallet as much.

I assume the flat you purchased was already trimmed.   I only buy whole packers.   I trim them myself.  I am picky how I trim mine.  You could learn how to trim a whole packer to save a bunch of money.

My grandfather bought it so I didn't get to see what he bought until after. But a whole packet brisket over there runs a solid $80+ untrimmed. It's crazy. For choice untrimmed packer brisket.

I know how to trim and cook a brisket pretty good though. Cooked my first one at 15 and got 2nd place in a local cooking comp. Got beat by cabbage rolls -_-

Holy cow!  I didn't realize beef prices were that wide ranging across the country. Those cabbage rolls must of been good.

Costco prime is a good deal the price reflects a much juicier and tender brisket. I would never buy select but choice is the usual if prime is not available.

Not brisket but not very often do you see Wagyu Ribeye! Who would buy this for their Christmas Roast?
