wet or dry

Does dry wood (Hickory, Cherry, etc) smoke more then, when you wet the same woods???

You will hear many different opinions about this but mine is that wet wood will steam until the moisture is gone and then it will start to smoke.

When you wet it It makes steam It has to dry before it can make smoke. I use dry wood.
