I am still working on the UDS. I just have not been able to get the ss screws and Metal banding for the top lid. Still dreaming about the first fattie or bacon or even hot dogs.

Very warm here lately into the 95 + deg.

Any way For every dark cloud there is a sun break and the neighbor brought me another used water tank and it is a little taller and an inch wider then the one i am working on now. I will make it a Dedicated cold smoker for cheese and summer sausage. I cant wait until i win that amazen smoker to put it in the unit with elect heat when needed.

Added the ball valve and it is a big un. I did this size as that is what the size comeing out the bottom of the unit is. In hind site i think i could have gotton away with one half the size and half the cost. Any way it sure looks tuff.

Well tomorrow i will go and get some more hardware. Nuts bolts etc. Maybe even some paint to start.

Karl

Got the holes 3/4" in bottom and put in the bolts for the racks.

The rack that is in it is about i inch smaller then the Webber 22"

I will be replaced just as soon as i can get the 22" webber

Well it looks like Sunday i will be able to get some parts to at least get far enough to use the smoker.

Might even get some paint.

Still have not made up my mind about the color. Maybe camo. That would look good i think.

Well yesterday i found 2 22 1/2 in weber grates at under $10 a pc.

They only had 2 left so i grabbed them.

Also some bags of pellets @ $4.40 a bag. Lil Devils 20 lb bags.

Was trying out an experiment on burning them with a pc of metal i found in a free box at a Garage sale last year so figured out i mite as well smoke some cheese in the uds while i am testing.

I have no idea what the metal was used for but so far it seems to work fantastik.

It took about 5 min to take off and has been burning for approx 5 hrs now.

It looks so far like a great success as a cold smoker. I will post pict of cheese in about an hr.

I guess the real test is in the finished product. This is really hard not opening the lid that is.

That tray is a crusty french bread or baguette pan probably from an in-store bakery department, lol!  (used to be a deli-bakery specialist, lol!)  If you look at the bottom of a loaf, you'll recognize the hole pattern!

Looks like your moving right along, thanks for all the updates.

I am not so sure I would have kept after this project, you are a dedicated smoker my friend. Its all coming together for ya. Without being able to weld on it, the hinge for the lid may be a tough one.

Nice work and thanks again for sharing your progress.

Tnx tom37

It realy has not taken any time when one adds the actual time up that i work on it.    I do an hr here and an hr there.

With spine problems on top of every thing else i just try to take it easy. I do have a wire feed welder and i may try to learn how to use it.  I spend most of my time at home so this is what i do.

Happy smoken
