Water in fire box

What are you guys doing about water in fire box. Drain holes opened mine today standing inch deep in water. See no way of keeping it from going in around top of door.
 
Mine is about 4/5 covered by a roof so this isn't a problem for me.

However I do try to keep the ashes cleared out so they don't hold moisture and promote rust. Which reminds me, I need to go do that now.

Drill a small hole in the bottom of the FB.... 1/4 or 3/8" would probably work....
 
Yea I did didn't know if it would screw up air flow or not. Though the angle iron I put on inside of door to keep heat in would keep water out guess I was wrong. Getting a little water in cc around lid guess you can't keep it all out.
