Want more flavor from my MES

I have broken up a briquette with a hammer, and added it to my handful of chips about an hour into a smoke. I like the flavor profile that charcoal adds to a smoke. Be aware that it did tend to spike my temp in my mes30 for a little while. It also plumed the smoke for a bit as well, before the return of tbs. My meat did not suffer any ill effect though. I just received an amnps pellet smoker for dads day, and am kicking myself for not getting some charcoal pellets with it! Next order i intend to try them.

If you are eating the food right after smoking, you have become "desensitized" to the smoke flavor....   takes a day or 2 to get back to normal.....    When I smoke bacon, it doesn't have much smoke....  A month later, when it hits the frying pan,  holey kow !!!  the house smells like so much smoke it's amazing.....    Just a thought...  Dave
 
Great points made by Dave & Mule !!!

And like Mule said, "you can light both ends of an AMNPS", but if you have to, it is because the one end isn't lit properly.

I consider myself a Smoke Hound, and one end lit is even enough for me.
