Hello all,

I'm currently building a small smokehouse/smokeshack, Concrete pad topped with a row of concrete blocks, sitting on top of that will be a 4ft wide x 4ft deep x 6ft tall smokeshack. Construction will be 2x4 stud built with 1x10  grooved boards that I pulled from my late Grandfathers barn. I haven't decided whether or not to insulate and cover the inside with metal yet. The idea behind the concrete pad and blocks are that I'm going with propane and figured that would be a good fire retardant. I've been reading on here for a few days and so far the only question I have unanswered is on vents. I see allot of other people using furnace registers for their intakes so that the plan there, probably a 4x10, I plan on using stove pipe for an exhaust but what size should I go with? I plan on having the intake on the bottom left, and the exhaust coming out top right wall as I'm using left over sheet metal from my shop build for the roof and don't want to have to worry about sealing that off.

I have the pad poured already and starting to lay blocks in the morning, If you have any concerns with the structural part of my build please feel free to let me know, I intend on trying to get this thing finished over the long weekend as i have fresh deer meat in the freezer just waiting for a place to hang out and smoke!

Thanks

Tony
