Planning on doing a small venison roast this Sunday for the family. I've never smoked venison for anything other than jerky before. I've tried doing a search but haven't come up with enough to make think I won't ruin it. How would y'all recomend I make it tasty. I am planning on the first smoke at about an hour, then doing the foil for 30-40 minutes or so and then the final for about 20 minutes with bbq sauce. Now I've never done it before so another question is on the way here....what does the whole soaking in say Dr. Pepper do for the meat. I'm assuming it helps with keeping it moist. Would just soaking it overnight be fine or does it need to go longer. I know...lots of ?s....I'm waiting for someone to pipe up with....what you want me to smome it for ya too lol. Thanks!
