Hello. I Found this site while browsning for tips on smoking pork. I am 38 and love grilling. I live in upstate NY near Albany.
I was watching Food Network one day and they had a whole bunch of shows featuring smoking/bbq and I decided I needed a smoker. I love slow cooking and have done a lot in my crock pot, but I wanted to kick things up a notch. So the wife got me a Brinkman Electric for Fathers Day and a bag of Hickory chunks and I was on my way.
My first attempt at ribs (dry rub, 6 hours, hickory, no foil) was good, but I know they can be so much better. My pork shoulder tasted fine, but was not fall apart tender at all (rub, 8 hours, 5 lbs). So lots of room for improvement.
This site is great and I am really looking forward to getting up to speed on smoking meat.
