so I forgot to cover up my uds this weekend after smoking some ribs......it has rained all week, now in the bottom of my uds I have a mixture of rainwater/charcoal ash.  basically sluge.

what woudl you do?

I am thinking of putting some charcoal in to warm it up and dry it out then cleaning out the bottom, and then re-seasoning it.

other than dont' forget to cover it up after using it......what would you do to clean it up?

Tip it on it's side and hose it out. Use a bin or bucket to catch the sludge if you don't want a mess on the ground or don't have a spot where it wouldn't matter to you if it hit the ground (prop up the bottom end, raised slightly above the top/catchment while rinsing out). Don't really think a re-season would be necessary, though, but your call on that.

Yeah you can just spray it out. I spray mine out about every 5 cooks on it just to get rid of the nasty stuff in the bottom since i dont use a water pan. Havnt had any probs.
