Turkey brie messup?

Discussion in 'Poultry' started by oakporker, Nov 25, 2011.

  1. Folks,
Attempting my first turkey tomorrow and could be doomed! The brine I'm using is for a12.5# bird and I used 1.5 cups of kosher salt and 1 cup of sugar instead of 1 cup and half cup. Is this bird going to be to salty or sweet?

  2. Just rinse it off good before you put it on....I trust it will be just fine..

You should be just fine. Like was suggested rinse it off. Dry it and rub it.

I have tried different percentages of salt to sugar from time to time with very little change in the final taste, unless you don't rinse the brine off when you take it out. I have tried that too.
