The package on the left was $12.+ and the one on the right was $9.+ origianally.

Since I got my smoker in May the first thing I wanted to do was some deli style turkey breast for sammies for Carol's lunch. I have looked, and looked, no deals since, until tonight.

Now I know I have it bad. I stopped at Krogers tonight for nothing, but to check out the meat counter. So, what do I see? 2 packages, 4 turkey breasts, bone in, skin on, and it said Managers Special on them price $1.99, reduced from $3.29. I was tempted but walked away. I spotted the manager that I just met last week and struck up a conversation with him. The last time I talked to him I mentioned the words "smoking meats." he said he did some in the past. I said I saw those turkey breasts over there, and asked if that was a good deal. He said if you are interested I'll mark them down. I said ok and got a package, not knowing what the final price would be. He came back and I didn't look, and we started talking about my MES and smoking. I finally looked down and he marked them down another dollar. Holy **** batman. I started getting the shakes and said on second thought, I'll take the other also. He marked that down also.

We continued talking about smoking and I couldn't wait to check out.
I swear when I checked out, I think I was trembling getting my debit card out. I kept waiting for someone to stop me and say there was a mistake.

When I got home and calculated it out, I got 11.35 pounds @ 3.29 = 37.34 for 11.24 WOW that is a score. I guess it pays to snoop even when you don't need anything.

Now, this may sound a little dramatic, but that is how I felt.

This smokin' thing is very adidictive.

I guess you know what I'll be smoking tomorrow.

Oh, the end of the pot roast for last nights dinner.

I still have to make a plan, but yes, I'll be dry curing for lunch meat, the kind that costs a fortune in the delis.

Thanks for watching, and wish me luck.

Ron

very nice score!

I hear ya on snoopin around krogers. Every mornin, whether I need anything or not, after I drop off the kids at school I go to kroger and check out the clearances for the day, I even know right where to look.

They laugh at me there, I don't mind.

Bubba, I am surprised at you and your expertise. Do you think every deli in your super market makes their lunch meat and is done on premises without being cured? You need to read the labels, my friend.

Every Subway, and Lennies sub shop uses cured meat. All deli's use use cured meat.
