I am going to be moving into a house in the next month, so I can get my long-anticipated smoker soon.  I was looking at the Masterbuilt electric smokers and with all of the models and the information I've gotten from this forum, I feel more lost than ever.  I think the main takeaway I've gotten is that a lot of people don't like the Gen 2 MES 30's and do like the Gen 1 MES 30's?  Which MES model would you suggest I get for myself?

I plan on getting a dual-probe thermometer to keep track of the temperature of the smoker rather than using the console on the smoker itself, and I also plan on getting an A-Maze-N pellet smoker.

Thanks in advance!

Just go to Sams and get this one:
Masterbuilt 40-Inch Electric Smoker with Bluetooth, Model #: 20070215
It's worth the extra $ to get a bigger one. I haven't read/heard any problems with the newer MESs.

For your probes, including the one built into smoker, boil water and stick the probes into the boiling water without touching the pan. If you are at sea level they should read 212 degrees. If not, you know how far off they are.

Relax, Masrebuilt has excellent customer care if something does go wrong. However, I doubt it will. Have fun!
