I made some ABT's for the folks at my new company and they were a hit (obviously). So I was telling my dad about them and he said to try stuffing them with pulled chicken (buffalo style) meat mixed with cheese (he said shred ched, but I am leaning towards crumbled blue cheese) and then wrapping in bacon and applying generous amounts of smoke:) So I decided to try that this weekend. Has anyone ever tried this version and have any pointers. I am a lil curious how difficult it would be to stuff them with that meat without having to cut the jap. Any thoughts?

dont want to slice em in half??

pull that chix real fine and mix with the buffalo sauce may make stuffin em easier?? Maybe even pre mix chix, sauce and cheese. If its too thick warm it up a tad that may help also?

Good luck, cant wait for qview, may have to try it myself.

Cut the tops off and clean em out, lil more work but worth it, easier to stuff that way!

I've done it with chicken and turkey. Just cut the chicken small enough to fit, and stuff the top with the cheese.

They taste great.

thanks to all. I will have the pics up monday. Also smoking a turkey for supper sat, and some ribs for mama's day supper. YUM E YUM all weekend!

i always cut mine in half..........easier to make sure you get all the seeds and ribs..........as a added plus.........it DOUBLES the amount of abts, which is ALWAYS a plus in this household, as they don't last long......heheeh

then i just use a half slice of bacon set on top, held in place with a toothpick
i also pre-fry my bacon up abit, helps with crisping up in the smoker

Sometimes it is like doh, why didn't I think of that. Mixing two of my favorite things. Let us know how it is and post pics.

sorry but I do not have the pics from the ABT smoke this weekend:( They were pretty good, but I do prefer the original way stuffed with a mixture of sausage and cream cheese. I did some more later with japs and Pableno's for those who can't take the heat. My dad and I ate the Japs and the women (brothers included) devoured the Pablenos in a matter of seconds.
