Hey there, I'm Jonathan aka Tropez. I'm a born and raised KC native who lives in Smithville, MO right now (just north of KC, near the airport).
I have a childhood friend who started competing and making his own sauce some years ago under the name Sweet Beaver. I also have two coworkers that started the Thump and Strum BBQ team recently (1st in Ribs and 4th in Chicken a comp a few weekends ago in Cameron, MO).
Just a month ago I pulled the trigger on a Traeger Lil Tex Elite. I made some killer food on that unit and found it was getting a workout multiple days per week. It only took a week or so for the BBQ bug to bite me (the food and cost saving cooking the food is just too good to beat).
I since have sold my Traeger on craigslist and placed an order for the Yoder YS640 which I'm anxiously awaiting for!
I'm an Systems Engineer in IT by day. I'm very technical and track everything in spreadsheets and google docs. Hell, I have all my cook times and pellet costs built into a spreadsheet already, LOL.
