Tip went over so good last week that my wife requested it again for Mother's Day (lucky me - not just because of the meat but for a perfect wife.)

Bought a 2-pack at Costco. Ready for a rub

    All rubbed up (SPOG)

    Into the WSM she goes.

    Should take around 3 hrs.

    1 hr in

    2 hrs

All done with a reverse (not so good looking) sear. 3 hrs on the money. IT of 144 (that's a good temp to suit everyone's tastes)

    Juicy and VERY tasty.

Tri tip, the best beef next to a nicely prepared brisket? Perhaps. Have a bite!!

Great looking tri-tip!  I've only done one but it was awesome.  Gotta find some more around these parts.

Thank you Mike. One is definitely enough to get hooked on them. Hopefully they become easier for you to find in the future.

Wonder if there's a look a like tri tip out there for folks unable to source then easily. Maybe a top sirloin? Thanks Farmer!

Right on David. Thank you. Definitely pay attention to that grain. Do you smoke tri tip often?

Thanks guys, tri tip is a wonderful meat and a great way to get smoked food in 3 hrs.

I think I'll experiment with the rub next time. Would like some added spice/heat. Wonder if some chili powder would be good?
