I currently own a Nesco FD-61. If possible I would like to increase the amount of what im dehydrating. With this being said I was wondering if theres a set amount of trays that I can add ? How would it effect the drying time, and when dehydrating other items like Jerky would that effect the drying in any sort of sense ?

Hello.  I an NOT your dehydrator guy!  AND I have never seen you unit; BUT!  The manufacturer has spaced the shelves to give you the maximum "ultimate" performance from the unit.  I would bet you can increase the number of shelves so long as you leave 2"-3" clearance all the way around each shelf.  Will that affect drying time?  YES!  How much???  I am sure your instructions say "x" amount of hours for "x" amount of whatever.  I think this is a try it and learn thing.  Experience is the teacher.  It is like overloading a smoker.  Smoking 1 turkey takes "x" hours.  Smoking 3 turkeys in that same smoker takes

..  Good luck.  Post pictures.  Keep Smokin!

Thanx for the response, but i think u might of misunderstood my ques and the type of device im using. Im not smoking no meats. Im using a dehyfrator. My model came with 4 or 5 trays. I bought 2 more trays but wanted to know IF ANYONE knows if theres a set limit of trays and how would it effect my dehydrating times if more trats were added

Based on below, you can have up to 12 trays without compromising the function. Increasing the meat will add some to the drying time, no idea how much, because you have more moisture to move out of the unit...JJ

Features
Model FD-61
The Adjustable Thermostat allows you to dry different foods at proper temperatures (95-160º F), providing the flexibility to produce the best drying results.
Powerful Top Mounted Fan and 500 watts of drying power generate maximum speed and quality for dehydrating fruits, vegetables, and  jerky. Helps dry food in hours, not days like other food dehydrators.

The FD-61 comes with 4 trays, but is expandable to 12 trays if you purchase Add-A-Trays[emoji]174[/emoji] (LT-2GP). Trays are 13 1/2" in diameter. This unit also includes one fruit roll sheet (LSS-2).
Vita-Save[emoji]174[/emoji] Exterior. Opaque Vita-Save[emoji]174[/emoji] exterior helps block harmful light which destroys nutritional content of food being dehydrated.
Patented Converga-Flow[emoji]174[/emoji] drying system forces air down the exterior pressurized chamber (not through the trays). The hot air is forced horizontally across each individual tray, converging on the core for fast, even and nutritious drying. No flavor mixing and no need to rotate trays.
Great for dehydrating fruit rollups, banana chips, beef jerky, venison jerky, and other healthy snacks. 120 Volt
