My buddy at work has a Traeger smoker, he was saying that it did not give much smoke flavor and he wants more smoke flavor.

I was telling him about my AMNPS I use in a Masterbuilt electric.

Is there anyone here using a Traeger and an AMNPS? Maybe a AMNPS tube?

Thanks for any info.

John,

He could use the AMNTS (tube smoker) to get more smoke. I also have a Traeger, my mom won it and I agree it doesn't smoke, well at least compared to my other smokers. If he gets the tube and places it on the hopper side of the cooking grate he should be good to go. The 6" or 12" should work. Keep in mind if he does higher temps then the anything above 300 will probably ignite the pellets. I haven't tested this yet. I do know in my other smokers that is the case.

I was talking to my dad just today about this exact issue. He has a Traeger, I have an Masterbuilt electric+AMNPS. He says he can't cold smoke cheese and I speculated the AMNPS would be a $30 fix. (He's new to this, I am skeptical a $1000 smoker can't cold smoke). It is interesting to hear the Traeger may also be a short on smoke flavor on hot smokes. I am 5 states away from him & can't verify that first hand, but adding an AMNTS to the mix is an interesting thought.

I'd love to hear any first hand accounts of Traeger + AMNPS/AMNTS.

I know with the AMNTS or AMNPS you could cold smoke in the Traeger or for that matter a cardboard box. I would probably opt to use the AMNTS. My reasoning for this is the AMNTS takes up less real estate and I know that  my Lil Tex Elite doesn't have room for the bigger AMNPS. I like to load up the smoker when cold smoking.
