Well guys, I have finished all of the mod's on my Smoking Pro Char-Griller and today is the day to season. My plan is to run about 20# of Royal Oak lump and Peach wood chunks with lots of oil. I will take some photos and see if my wife can load them in to post ..later on today...she has way more PC sav vy than i do.
Any advice on seasoning my smoker would be great..thanks ..Brew Dude
Good luck on the inaugural season smoke! What kind of oil are you using? If you haven't purchased any yet, I'd suggest peanut oil due to its high temp resistance and burn off properties. You don't necessarily have to run your entire 20# bag through the process, because that stuff burns hot for a long time. If you season it for around 4-8 hours, you'll be good, and I think 1/2 to 3/4 of a bag will get you through that.
Yes you will be fine withyour choice of oils. you just need to get your smoker up to a good high tamp 350°- 400° and then you just let it go and then you'll be ready for the real thing. So go out there and get you something to smoke and we will be here awaiting any question that you might have.
