While smoking the ribs on Saturday, thought I'd take a pic of the TBS. Smoke was so thin, I had to use the garage door as a backdrop to be able to see it! Is it supposed to be that light, or do I need to bump it up a little?

I don't see smoke but is that snow inside the garage door?glad i here in AZ.

Looks like you nailed it, Bassman! Thin and blue and translucent is exactly the target you're looking for. Nice job!

Cheers,
Brian

Being fairly new at the THin Blue Concept, was wondering how you maintained such a thin and blue smoke? Ive not been able to achieve that thin YET.

What you are showing is exactly what you want. If you can smell the wood then so is the meat, regardless if you see it or not.

Well done!

I'll have to confess. At first, there was more smoke, but once it settled down, I just put one chunk of wood on at a time. I also soaked the wood for 1/2 hour before putting it in the pan. If I were to follow the instructions with the smoker, I would fill the pan, turn on the fire and stand back! Guess I'll just continue to do it this way. Keith

As long as you can smell the smoke you are getting smoke regardless of how well you can see it.... course you don't want the white billowy stuff though... lol.
