Berries, berries, Berries!

What to do with 'em ? Soooo sweet, juicy, and delicious. (My hands are stained red and I have 1/2 flat left to process)

They are pretty good!

I processed to full flats to freeze for year round shortcake, Strawberry jelly/jam/topping

Or maybe a Strawberry cheesecake, Strawberry cake,

Strawberry pie, Strawberry bread pudding, Strawberry liqueur,

Its a berry good fruit bowl! Strawberries, apple, blackberries & watermelon!!

BTW I gotta tell you, Thursday I threw a chicken in the brine, Friday I washed it off and put in the reefer to dry, Threw it on the smoker today (Low and slow) @210 degrees, . I w/pecan It took 4 hours for a 6 lber to hit 162, I pulled it and it cruised to 165. I believe it was the best smoked chicken I ever ate! I know you always miss the pictures on the best ones...>LOL

Great problem to have.

Great looking berries.

I had a small patch. Hard to get big berries.

I moved on

Great looking strawberries, Kevin! We just made 11 jars of strawberry jam. That's enough for the 2 of us.

The strawberries down here from Plant City are killer too.

You do chicken like us, low & slow, we don't eat the skin so it's just there to keep the meat moist.

Now get back to work & mash those berries!

Al

Them look real nice Foam, we really like strawberries round here. The helpers like fruit smoothies but they have to be with strawberries ! That'll be some good eats for ya !

BTW, that chicken sounds awesome. My better half requested BCC today, so we'll be tossing a couple on here soon !

Thanks Al, yeppers I have had some of those Florida berries and they are pretty good. Ours are not their best ....... we had all those rains and the water could not dissipate  so we have beautiful berries that taste a lot like water. We've had a week and a half of no rain which is helping. Hope we get some sweeter berries before they end this year.

I averaged 8 pints processed from 12 pints or a full flat.

We really like strawberry short cake, and when you can have it year round its even better...LOL

I still have one big bowl full of clean halves with no sugar on 'em thinking on maybe some freezer preserves. That will probably make a cake, and 8 jars of jelly. I think I still have 8 or 10 left from last year. I have learned always good to stay ahead, for that 1 in 4 bad year! LOL

Smoothies is this generation, we do strawberry milkshakes and malteds upon occassion.  Of course we do a little strawberry liqueur too...LOL

I wish I knew exactly what I put in that brine! Of course I just grab the normal stuff but this was just too perfect. And that was the one in 10, that's just perfectly done. If I could do that consistantly I'd have no choice but to go into business. I assume all real cooks would agree about that.

Strawberries are "in season" here as well. I request strawberry shortcake for my birthday every year. Always the best!!

I'm looking forward a few months to the bush berry season!!

Strawberry liquor is one I haven't tried.

Is it distilled or brewed?

But just look at those berries! So many things to do...... I make a Cajun Strawberry Cheesecake that 'll  make ya wanta slap ya momma!
Forget the cheesecake and momma slapping.  You can bootleg me a jar of that strawberry hooch when it mellows!  It will make the perfect summer ice tea!  Looks mighty tasty. b

I'll try the cheescake! Great looking berries, ours are still half green or half rotted!
