what welder r u using...... looks like to be a 210 or better.... I'm in a build and have the hobart 187 but am using my miller suitcase with the trailblaizer for larger welds.......

Nice smoker unit..... will it be portable?

Joe

Good eye! It's a Miller 212. It makes me a better wekder than I really am!

TJ - I will get some better pics up this weekend.

Nice looking rig!!!!   I really like it.

I'm gonna tip my hat your way, very nice fab work. And I love the TM table, would that be a 4x4? One day I will have the money and the space for a nice cnc table. (I Hope)

If you ever make another rig or get the urge to change it up a bit, I saw a really cool set-up for revolving shelves without the center post. He used more or less 3 bearings on welded studs at equal points in the pipe. Then he took a shelf similar to yours and rolled a ring to the outside dia and welded to the shelf. The bearings have a groove for the rings to rotate on. It looked really cool being able to have use of the full shelf and still have it rotate.

That sounds interesting. I am not a 100% that my way will work but I am trying to do it with what I have on hand.

finished up the shelves, but may still add one more.......

not the best pictures but its just so simple to take/send/post a cell phone image

sorry about the sideways picture, thought they were right when I posted them....just turn your monitor on its side!

Well I got her all done! I had to barrow a tractor to move it outside but still dont have it exactly where I want it to end up. Still I was anxious to get it seasoned so she was sprayed down with a coating of vegi oil and then fired up. It's obvious that she wont take much wood to keep up to temp. Thats a good thing if you ask me.

here is a few pics of the burn out. The first one looks like a fire ball in the smoke box but its just the way the sun played on the smoke. ....

first smoke in the morning.... I am so anxious I cant sleep! Here it is 12:30 and I am up surfing. We'll be going a couple of butts, a brisket and probably some chicken quarters towards the end. I will post the results

7:20 and still nothing????

Thats on the verge of being a crime.

Good luck with the first smoke, btw,,, fantastic job on the smoker.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone..... just remember I am in Arizona so I'm a little behind ya'll in the mid west and east, it's only 7:45 :grilling_smilie:

ok...you've had 4 hours to sleep now get going on that thing so we can see some more Qview. What a piece of art!   Any mods you can think of just after seeing how the burn-in went?

John

Not so far, it seems to hold temp perfectly. In fact I think the issue with this one will be keeping the temp down. It does look like I will need to start my fire in something else and move it to the fire box. I had temps quickly get to over 500 when I started the fire this AM. I dont want that kind of heat in the thing.

I was so busy eat'in that I forgot to take a pic when the meat came off, here is the left overs. But they didnt last long either!

did some chicken quarters for the first time. Man were they great!

The Smoker is working great. It's easy to maintain temp once a good bed of coals is built. The only thing I found that I need to do is add a plow disk under the bottom rack. I will put it with the dome up so that the drippings run off and into the bottom of the smoke box. Right now they are missing this drip pan and running down the outside of the fire box. It makes a mess. I need to get this done before I can paint it.

Damn, that's awesome
