Hello all, I just bought a super pro about a month ago and my wife and I love it!! Just ordered my side firebox yesterday! Anyways I'm 31 and from Ohio father of one little boy and baby due in November. Will try and post a pic of my set up once my side box is all together. Look forward to chatting it up with you all.

Welcome to all the new members been awhile since I got to get on here and really get down on the Char-Griller talk. Looks like there is a bunch of good ideas coming in again on people's smokers...of all my mods that I have done I'd have to say that the baffle convection plate I added and the thermal welding blanket insulation is the biggest help. Between the two I can have my SFB cranking at a high temp but really choke it down and control those temps.

Now FPMICH I know you are about to ask where's the pictures and believe me brother I wish I had them already because it's been so awesome! I have just been busy with my national guard unit. Been gone and training for both jobs for the last few months. Been away more than home. Ready to slow down because I am needed my own bbq! I will post pictures this week though as I have a fees days!!

No FPMICH I'm not saying you would have said anything I'm just saying that you MIGHT have. lol

Now I am definitely out for awhile and am going to get those pics. Messed up my back at work this week. Not good either.

Haha very good pun! It would have been a knee slapper if I could. But hey being laid up I really am having the time to redo the dang thing and getting it double insulated.

Which by the way what I'm doing is literally sewing in a foil lined piece of card board for wind breakage.

Sorry about the knee slapper.

Sewing in that foil cardboard should help.

Hope you get feeling better.  I shouldn't have joked about your back.  What goes around comes around, right?  Well my back needs a trip to the bone cracker soon now too.

Just got a model 6125 a few months ago, after using an MB gasser for a couple years and can't get enough of it. Nothing against MES's, but it's nice to see others trying the stick burner thing.
Other than sealing things up during assembly, no mods needed!
Dan

Oh I wish that they had this one out when I purchased my smoker!! I think it would have made a big difference but now I enjoy my creation!!

Ok, I guess I fudged a bit about the mods. I did lay a couple of steel plates at the box end to sort of baffle some heat to the middle...

Oh yeah that's pretty normal with any offset....I don't care who makes the smoker. Almost all makers offer a baffle system for there smoker.

Yepp Yoders, Horizon, Oklahoma Joe and lots of others do a convection/baffle plate system. Then you've got 3rd party guys like bbqsmokersupply.com and others who make them.

I love my baffle set up in my offset!!
