Got my old man a char-broil Big Easy Oil-less fryer for Christmas. Today we shall christen it with a shoulder. Ill be posting Qview soon. Anyone ever use one? Some friends have one that they have done turkeys in. Supposedly very good to eat and no oily mess. This pork will be a new experience for both of us. I love trying something new. And the challenge too. check back shortly!!!

Hey this is a post I'll be following. I've been eyeing up the oil-less fryers for a couple months now and have come down to the Big Easy or the electric butterball version. Keep us posted.

Now thats definatly gonna be a strange concockation for sure. A fried pork shoulder now I can say I have heard of it done it No seen it No would I Sure. But please that alot of Qview cause this could be a real killer way to cook a shoulder. I willing to try anything twice. I mite mess it up the first time.

I own a Big Easy and I love it. No more waiting for almost an hour to heat up the oil and then figuring out how to dispose of it.

I have done pork tenderloin, beef tenderloin, whole chicken, turkey, chicken parts, shish kabob, salmon and lobster tail in mine. So far have not had a bad cook yet. Today we are having beef tenderloin kabobs and lobster tail cooked in the Big Easy. Will post pics tomorrow.

Another option it gives you is to smoke your chicken or turkey and finish in the Big Easy to crisp up the skin.

This unit really does a nice job on meats. Any thing you can put on a rotisserie, you can cook in here. Basically it's a rotisserie with no moving parts. Great concept and a wonderful addition to my outdoor cooking repetoire. BTW, I have used it in temps below 20* with no problems. And no need to preheat!

This is very interesting - I just watched the video and it looks great in concept. How long have you been using it Marty? Sounds like you are happy with the results.

Twanger - Welcome and I am looking forward to seeing your qview

I bought mine in late September of last year. Saw a guy using one at a marina I was at. He was doing turkeys. Got my curiosity up and went to the Char-Broil site and looked at the different meats they were showing. Then went to the users forum and I was hooked. Been having lots of good food with it since.
Check around, Lowe's and Home Depot were both carrying them. Original model may be hard to come by in stores as they have a new model out. Both available from Char-Broil website.

twanger1994,
I've got a Big Easy also. They are really good, but you do have to keep the wind off of it. Done yard bird and turkey...turned out great.

etcher1, you should try a beef tenderloin in that thing. Go by IT, not time and you'll get some good eats. I use a Char Crust black peppercorn and garlic rub on it. Check out the forum for ideas and mods to cooking apparatus. Good stuff there. That thing will do more than just birds.

That's something I am definitely going to try.

Etcher1, trim that tenderloin to one pretty even cut of meat, about 8" long. Coat it in CharCrust or whatever rub you like. Stick a skewer in one end and suspend it in the middle of the cooking basket so it hangs in the center of the cooking chamber. A 41/2 lb. tenderloin should take about 50 minutes. Again, go by IT. Give time to rest and you'll have some great eats.

Sorry it took so long but I forgot my camera at my fathers place. So here it is.... Pork shoulder cooked in just over 2 hrs in The Big Easy Oil-less Fryer. It was delicious. And the most juicy tender meat I have ever had... Qview submitted for your enjoyment...

Cant wait for my next Big Easy Meal!!!!

I found out after we cooked that the wire mesh lid will control the char and crispiness... but hey trial is half the fun right!!!!

Dang that looks good!

See, this thing is for more than just frying turkeys and chickens! If that is the thermometer that came with it, get another. Mine was waaaay off. A good digital remote therm works great. I use the Oregon Scientific AW131 and leave it in for the whole cook.

Again, some good looking eats!
