I have been gone for the last few days and noticed that last night there was a turkey in our fridge.  I knew I was expected to smoke a bird for turkey day but I did not realize that the subject of my smoke was already purchased.   I asked my wife about it and she said that my mother in law bought it and brought it over Thursday night.  It was frozen so the put it in the fridge to thaw.

So, my question is:  If the bird was frozen on Thursday I assume it was fully thawed sometime between Saturday & Sunday.  I plan to brine overnight tonight and throw on the smoker tomorrow night (Wednesday).  Is that too long for a turkey to be thawed and in the raw in the fridge?? Basically I am assuming being thawed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and brined Tuesday evening through Wednesday.

every thing i can find says one day in the fridge for every 4 -5 lbs to thaw and only 2 or 3 days after thawing in the fridge

I wouldn't recommand brining the bird for over 12 hours. After all it will tend to turn into mush after that. So I would brine starting wednesday and then smoke on thursday. One other thing is don't forget the Q=view.
