I am very grateful for all the great advice that I picked up on SMF for my first smoke. I've grilled for years but really wanted to step up my game and get into smoking. After reading 100's of equipment reviews, I purchased a Masterbuilt dual fuel smoker. Assembly was a breeze as it is a very well engineered unit. I picked up a digital thermometer and a cast iron skillet to replace the stock chip tray, thanks to several reviews on this site. The skillet lets me use chunks for smoking without them flaring up. After seasoning, I used Jeff's rub (it really is The Bomb, as the kids say) and smoked a honey citrus chicken, modifying a recipe that I found here. It was absolutely the juiciest, best tasting chicken I have ever cooked! The helpful hints and tips that I picked up from SMF took all the guesswork out of the process. I had a pretty good idea what to do every step of the way. Thanks again for all the help in making my first smoke a success. Looking forward to many years of great eats!
