Hey y'all I'm new to the forum. Just moved out to California from Texas in April and had to leave the old pit behind. So I just bought a Char-Griller Super Pro and added the SFB. I'm in the midst of adding all the mods I've read about on here and can't wait to get it fired up this weekend. I can't explain how much this place is hurtin for some good ol BBQ. I'LL add pics of the after when she's all rigged up and smokin.

Jaburr25, HOWDY and welcome to SMF!   Have fun with the mods and firing that baby up this weekend.  You are absolutely right about BBQ in CA.  Basically it sucks!  As a CA native who has also lived in Texas, Florida, and Tennessee, I have tasted phenomenal Q.  It took smoking my own to find that flavor again.  I suspect there are clean air emission laws out here in CA that prevent good Q from being made at the restaurant level, so I just keep making my own.

Enjoy your inaugural run!

Welcome to SMF from Nor Cal. I am originally from the east coast so I agree that the BBQ is lacking out here.

So here it is with all the mods I've read about except the coal box but it's on its way I'm using a 10" grill WOK for the time being. Next will be new shelves and wheels along with a better bottom rack. She's rolling smoke right now getting all seasoned up then I'll be smokin a California Brisket(Tri-tip) tomorrow. So far the teams are about 15-20° different from side to side.

Well here it is. Got a good smoke ring, a nice texture and pretty good pull. Everybody says it taste great too. The down side is my makeshift coal basket wasn't big enough so getting and holding temp was a bit difficult. Nevertheless pretty happy with the end results and now know what to fix.

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a warm day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.
