Wow, was I surprised that I could make such a nice meal.   My wife loved it as well.

Found a 4 lb chunk o meat labeled prime rib on sale a few weeks ago.  Did some research here and said, what the heck.  Let's smoke it!  Took about 2 1/2 hours @ 230.  Pulled it at 140 degrees (it surprised me that it was done so fast!).  foiled it and let it sit while the potatoes broasted, Then tossed the PR into the already hot oven for 15 minutes.  It was wonderful!

Marinaded it in apple juice, crushed garlic, pepper, essence of Emeril original  and a little sage while it was defrosting.

I also tried what I think is the minion method for the first time.  My QView will start with that.  If it looks wrong, let me know.  Thanks!

My Minion... (the piece of apple wood in the middle came out before I placed about 3/4 a chimney of Royal Oak)

.

here's the beef...

After the 2-1/2 hours and foiled then ovened for just a bit...

Ahhh...

Later,

Brian

Looks good to me too. Just a little overcooked for me but my motto is get some smoke on it and lets eat it

It looks great,

I was looking to pull it between 130 and 135, but it surprised me how quickly it got up there.   It's much more rare toward the middle. My wife likes hers a little less bloody and I aims to please...

I feel your pain wbrian, My wife likes hers pulled @ 140º

And I aim to please her also! If momma ain't happy...........well you know the rest!

Nice drool-o-vision.  I gotta try one of those one day.  My soon-to-be wife doesn't eat steak (crazy, i know.....) so I'll have to throw her a rack of BBs on there.  That's probably the only reason I haven't done one yet.

Your prime rib looks good to me not much fat in it thou. Now I guess I'm lucky for my wife likes her meat the same way that I do.
