I don't have a garage. I have a shed, but I store my hub hunting blinds and chairs in there, and now that I know how much scent my charcoal smoker puts off even after not using it for almost a month, I realize I can't store them in the shed.
I have a cover for one, and the cover for the new one is on it's way, but will the covers be enough for a NYS winter?
Tarps as well?

What part of 'upstate NY' are you from? I was born and brought up in Adams Center, NY, 10 mi. south of Watertown, NY in my dad's store, Fassett's Quality Foods.
I'd tie them down with bungees, but in most cases they should be ok. A Blizzard of '77 type winter you may have to wait until spring to dig them out (we got 13 ft. of snow in one night...) but more than likely just protecting them from the weather should do ok.

I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum area. I am very sorry.
I live in a hill town outside Albany. I put my regular grill on the back of the house as most of the time the home bocks the predominant wind, so I guess that's where I will put the smokers. I might add a tarp to the cover of the propane smoker as I plan to try and use it this winder. If we get a huge storm, I will just have to get out there and shovel around it when I run the snowblower for the driveway.
